The idea was inspired by my late father, Peter, who was born in Hamilton, just outside Glasgow.

He was the most wonderful dad.

He laughed louder than anyone in the room, often at his own jokes, which he would happily slip into conversations with anyone willing to make eye contact. He left people laughing in his wake. It is a very Scottish trait.

He was not much of a fashion icon. He favored short sleeved shirts with buttons and collars. A polo was acceptable. A T shirt, never. He rarely wore sweaters, but when he did, he was particular. They had to be lightweight, soft, and cut just right. Not too tight. Not too loose. For someone otherwise easygoing, sweaters were non negotiable.

After he died, while going through his things, I came across one of his sweaters. Holding it transported me instantly back to memories of him wearing it. When I lifted it to my nose, I could still smell him. For a moment, he was there again, in spirit and in memory.

That moment sparked a simple mission.

Create the world’s most loved knitwear.

It began with The Heirloom Sweater, made from Scottish cashmere and crafted to order in Brooklyn. From there, we introduced The No.1 Sweater, a more accessible, everyday cashmere sweater, made in small batches so more people could be part of the story.

At the moment, I am making The No.1 Sweater in a black crewneck and a navy blue V neck. Each sweater is $180 and takes approximately two to three weeks to make and deliver.
